How to get a quote from a professional painter and decorator? how to know the right quote for you? there are a few things to go through before getting a quote.there are a lot of factors involved in the quote you get from the professionals but the biggest part of it is obviously the labour cost;that's why experience matters . An experienced painter will add a value to the decorating job and you will get what you pay for.
why shouldn't i look for a cheap painter?
the short answer is simply that you will end up pay more money for a low-quality service.how so?
as i said earlier , the biggest part in the quote is the cost of the labor . so if you hire a painter to paint a room for £100 ( which is very cheap) he will finish the room in one day which means he didn't spend time on preparing the surfaces and making them ready for painting.this means you will probably hire someone else to redo the room and that will cost more labour and materials .
Watch out for nasty surprises.
there are some extras that will eat your budget like damp patches which need to be sealed,hollow surfaces which need to come down and replastered or filled and if you have a wallpaper needs to be removed that may unveil alot of damage underneath.
What sort of price i should be looking for?
well it depends on the size and condition of the surface and how much repairs needed but here a list of approximate prices:
2-bed house or flat. Properties of this size should cost between £1,500 and £2,000 to paint, with work taking up to a week.
3-bed house or flat. Costs should be between £2,000 and £3,000 to paint, around a week
4-bed house or flat. If you’ve got a 4-bed property, expect to pay between £2,500 and £3,500. Contractors will probably take a week to 10 days to complete the job.
5-bed house or flat. Finally, if you’ve got a large 5-bed house or flat, it will take between one and two weeks to completely repaint. Costs should be between £3,500 and £4,200.
